Miss S.C. Teen gets to meet Donald Trump

A recent Las Vegas visit resulted in an unusual photo opportunity for Mary Helen Caver in the midst of her year as Miss South Carolina Teen USA.
Caver, a freshman majoring in early-childhood education at USC Aiken, attended the Miss USA pageant April 19. She and her fellow teen contestants were honorary guests at the event with assigned seating near the stage.
After the pageant, the teens were waiting for a chance to meet Kristen Dalton of Wilmington, N.C., who had been crowned the new Miss USA moments before.
Donald Trump was standing nearby and seemed receptive to a photo invitation.
"He said, 'South Carolina, come on over here. Let's get a picture,' and he actually wanted to get a picture because we matched. His tie matched my pink dress, so it was pretty cool," Caver laughed.
"It was just so random because he said, 'South Carolina, hey! We match. We need a picture.'"
Stage access was a rare treat, she confirmed. "We were all waiting below the stage - me and another girl - so I was pretty excited."
Caver, a 2008 graduate of North Augusta High School, is a daughter of David and Debbie Caver.
