As the 2009 Miss Oregon Teen, Michelle Modey of Burns has a busy spring and summer ahead of her.
Modey began her official 2009 events locally, at the Harney County Senior Center, serving lunch with the Nazarene Church.
On Feb. 14, she celebrated Oregon’s 150th birthday at the state capitol in Salem, meeting and greeting thousands of citizens. That night, Modey attended the National Guard Military Ball at the Salem Convention Center. She took advantage of the event and learned to dance in the 1859 style.
On March 14, Modey participated in the Lincoln Day Dinner at the Teen Challenge in Shedd. Oregon Rep. Greg Walden was the honorary speaker for the celebration.
This weekend, April 18-19, Modey will be in Las Vegas. On Saturday she will be at the Fashion Rocks the Universe Red Carpet & Fashion Show. Following the show she will participate in an autographing session. Sunday she will be a guest of the Miss USA pageant, where she will be seated with other Miss Teens from across the United States.
Other upcoming events for Modey will include supporting the Ethiopian Orphan Relief at an event at the North Star Ball Room in Portland and supporting military families during Operation Homefront in Lebanon.
The highlight of the summer will be on July 27-31 during the National Miss Teen Pageant in Paradise Island, Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. Modey will compete with 51 other girls for the title of Miss Teen USA.
